Keynote Speaker

Keynote Speaker Greta Eskridge Description

Convention Features and Schedule

The SHBE convention is a two-day gathering designed to support and equip families who are homeschooling or exploring home education. Attendees can expect keynote sessions and workshops on a wide range of practical topics, including curriculum choices, teaching strategies, and navigating home education requirements. There is a vendor hall with resources, curriculum providers, and community organizations, as well as a teen program. The convention also provides opportunities to network with other families, gain inspiration, and celebrate student achievements, making it both an educational and community-focused event.

This year's Convention features include:
  • Plenary sessions with our keynote speaker
  • Workshops on a variety of homeschool topics, from a variety of presenters!
  • An awesome teen track/program
  • A packed Exhibit Hall with curriculum providers, other homeschool-related exhibitors, post-secondary institutions, etc.  While registration is ongoing for exhibitors, you can check out a list at this link to see who was able to come last year!
  • A ‘Can I REALLY do this?’ Workshop
  • A popular Homeschool Completion Recognition Ceremony for families who would like to publicly recognize and celebrate their graduates!
A sample schedule will be released closer to Convention.
  • For an example schedule so you know what to expect, you can view last year's schedule on this page!

Pricing Table

Does the registration fee include an Annual SHBE Membership?

While we do not currently confirm each Convention attendee's membership status as in the past, we really do hope that this doesn't result in membership cancellations (and that non-members will also still feel led to sign up for a SHBE membership), for a number of reasons.

  • First of all, everyone involved with SHBE is a volunteer! While Convention fees cover Convention expenses, our SHBE Membership is what covers all the operating costs of SHBE as a registered non-profit charity in Saskatchewan! This includes required insurance, website costs, and other minimized overhead expenses.
  • All members are invited to our annual AGM and are invited to contact SHBE at any time with questions or concerns!
  • Our board does revisit Convention and board expenses every year to ensure we can cover both expenses through Convention registrations and membership fee.
  • Check out our About page for more information about what SHBE is about. If you have any other questions about SHBE, please be sure to contact our Help Desk!

Teen Program

Do you have a teen ages 13 and up? If so, bring them along*! Teens ages 13+ love participating in our Teen Program designed by our Convention Committee just for them, while getting to know other homeschooled teens at the same time!
*Take note that registration for teens will be limited to the space of the available teen room this year, so register early!

Update as of January 25:

Good news! After meeting with the venue and re-evaluating our space, we’ve been able to open additional spots in the teen program.

If you were previously waitlisted for a teen ticket, you are now invited to return to the ticket system using the buttons on this page and complete your teen program registration as soon as possible. Please note that there is still an upper limit on teen registrations, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you’d like to secure a spot, we encourage you to register as soon as you’re able.  Thank you for your patience, and we’re excited to welcome more teens to the program!

‘Can I REALLY do this?’ Workshop

This popular homeschooling workshop is the ideal place to start. This workshop will answer questions from anyone considering homeschooling, and from anyone ready to start their homeschool journey. Questions like, “Is homeschooling legal?”, “Am I qualified?”, “Where do I start?”, and “How do I start?”

Join us Friday, February 27th, 2026 for this workshop. This workshop is free, but to attend any other parts of the event you will need to register.

Used Books

For those who would like to sell used books at Convention, this is once again going to be possible on consignment through a private vendor.

If you have Used Books you would like to sell, The Treasure Chest is available to sell them on consignment for you.  Please contact Francie Munchinsky as soon as you are able (before February 12th), so she can plan her booths accordingly (see email address below).

Homeschool Completion Recognition Ceremony

We are pleased to host the Homeschool Completion Recognition Ceremony in honour of students completing formal homeschool studies in the spring of 2026. The ceremony will take place after Friday evening's plenary session, at 7:45 pm.  Both parents and graduates will be introduced.  Anyone interested in participating in this event can indicate so on their registration form (by purchasing a single "Graduate" ticket for their teen - no need to purchase 2 tickets!), and their ticket confirmation email will explain where to find more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Convention be Christian-focused?

While many workshops and vendors at the SHBE convention reflect the Christian perspective common within Saskatchewan’s homeschool community, the convention is designed to be useful and welcoming to families of all religious backgrounds, or no religious background at all. Keynote sessions and general workshops provide practical homeschooling guidance applicable to anyone, and every workshop is clearly labeled in the program as General, Christian, or both, so attendees can choose what aligns with their own convictions. Families can participate thoughtfully, exercising discernment as they would at any public event, and still benefit fully from the networking, resources, and educational content the convention offers.

What payment options will be available on site?

Convention registration fees and any items at the SHBE table (mugs are coming this year!) can be paid by credit card, debit (if your bank allows online payments by card similar to a credit card), or cash.

This year's on-site concession will be cash-only, as it is operated by a volunteer group for fundraising.  Remember, coffee, tea, and water are included with your event ticket!

Some exhibitors will have curriculum or other resources/items available for purchase.  As far as we are aware, card payments as well as cash will be accepted throughout the Exhibit Hall.  The exception to this is The Treasure Chest used books vendor, where only cash and e-Transfer payments will be available.

What should I remember to bring to Convention?
  • Cash (see question above).  The nearest ATM is a one-minute drive away from the venue.
  • A reusable hot/cold drink container to hold your favorite beverages!
  • Outside snacks are welcome this year!
  • Pen and notebook if you like to take notes during sessions.
  • Extra cloth bags for curriculum/resources purchased during the event. Some people like to bring shopping wagons/suitcases for this purpose.
  • A mind and heart ready for some encouragement and learning. (You may even need some Kleenex 😊).
